Granuflo Lawsuit
09/27/2012 Granuflo Lawsuit News: Granuflo is a product that is used to treat kidney failure patients. The Granuflow Lawsuit stems from a Class One Recall of Granflo was initiated by the FDA as a result of a link between Granuflo and Heart Attacks in patients that use the drug.
The FDA issued the Class One Recall of Granuflo after reports that Granuflo significantly increased the risk of heart attack in Dialysis patients that use the drug. The Granuflo Recall was not the only recall of dialysis additives recently made by the FDA.
Granuflo is made my Fresenius Medical Care and is used as an additive in Dialysis treatments. Although the FDA issued the most serious recall it ever issues for Granuflo, the product still remains on the market. The FDA did not require a removal of Granuflo from the market completely but instead required the makers of Granuflo to update their Product Labeling and make changes to their dialysis machine operating instructions.
It is believed that Granuflo caused a high rate of heart attacks due to the fact that it contains bicarbonate at high levels. If two much bicarbonate develops in a persons blood stream it can lead to various heart problems including cardiac arrest.
The first Granuflo Lawsuits have already been filed and lawyers investigating the case expect there to be many more Granuflo Lawsuit filed as the product was widely used by dialysis patients throughout the country. Given the already compromised health of a dialysis patient many of the Granuflo Lawsuits yet to be filed will most likely be wrongful death lawsuits given someone who already suffers from severe kidney disease is less likely to survive a heart attack or other sever cardiac event that an otherwise healthy person.
It is likely that Granuflo Lawsuits will eventually be consolidated into a Multidistrict Litigation. We base this statement solely on the fact that pharmaceutical lawsuits of this nature often end up being consolidated into a Multi District Litigation.
