We have received reports that the primary defendant in the Pradaxa Lawsuit, Boehringer Ingelheim, is working on an antidote or reversal agent to assist in stopping bleeding events. A major issue in the ongoing Pradaxa Lawsuit is the fact that the reversal agent or Antidote that worked with other drugs like Pradaxa did not work to help stop bleeding events made worse by Pradaxa. How long it may take for the maker of Pradaxa to create an Antidote or Reversal agent that does work with pradaxa bleeds is unknown. Developing an antidote could take years or months. Regardless of how long it takes to develop anAntidote, this Antidote will be of no use to individuals who have already been injured or died as a result of bleeding events made worse by the use of Pradaxa.
The fact that the defendant in the Pradaxa Lawsuit is allegedly working on an antidote now could be seen as evidence that they should have developed this Antidote before seeking FDA approval for Pradaxa. If the defendant in the Pradaxa Lawsuit intends to claim that they were unaware that the antidote that worked on bleeds caused by other drugs similar to Pradaxa, did not work with Pradaxa, they may be trading one problem for another. Given that the Antidote for bleeds caused by drugs similar to Pradaxa has been known for decades, Pradaxa Lawyers are likely to contend that the maker of Pradaxa was responsible for testing to see if this common antidote worked with their product as well.
The Pradaxa Lawsuit defendant will face many challenges in defending against claims being made in Pradaxa Lawsuit cases. If they did not test the common antidote for effectiveness with Pradaxa Bleeds, then they will have to defend this in action. If they did test the common antidote and knew that it did not work for Pradaxa Bleeds, they will have to explain why they did not make the FDA and Pradaxa users aware of this fact. There doesn’t appear to be a defense of the Pradaxa Lawsuit defendant on this issue.
